SIERRA LEONE TO HOST MTV MAMA 2022 ; FAR FROM A SOCIAL MEDIA STUNT MOVE

In the bid to host the 2022 MTV Mama Awards in Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Maada Bio, the Special Envoy of  Entertainment and Investment  Amb Kao Denero and the Honorable Minster of Tourism and Culture Madam Memunatu Pratt have held a presentation conference with the organizing team of the MTV Mama Awards. 

The virtual presentation was made by the MTV via Zoom in the conference room at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture office, Freetown, Tuesday 14th  April 2021 – A strategic organizing committee of the MTV Mama Awards led by the Vice President of MTV Africa, has conveyed a proposal from MTV to the Government of Sierra Leone 

The team comprising top-ranking officials from the MTV made a comprehensive presentation on the objectives of the MTV Mama for the amplification of Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry,  the objectives for the Sierra Leone Media and PR, Mama objectives for Economic development and Investment seminar, youth empowerment and skills development, Mama Objectives for Sierra Leone’s tourism, “ In a nutshell the Mama objectives is to amplify awareness levels for Sierra Leonean business and for leisure  tourism. While positioning Sierra Leone as a business leisure of destination of choice” the Vice President said. 

Mama team also made a presentation on the potential exposure figures in Africa and their 2021/2022 partnership objectives for Sierra Leone. 

 

On Behalf of the government of Sierra Leone where the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hon. Dr Memunatu Pratt, Special Envoy of Entertainment and Investment, Amb Kao Denero and other senior staffs of the ministry present. Hon Memunatu Pratt expressed thanks and appreciation to the MTV Mama team for their presentation and also assured them that  Sierra Leone is committed to hosting the 2022 Mama Awards, as boosting the tourism industry of the country is also a priority to the government. 

“And that is why we will continue to engage the MTV Mama team on the negotiations ” she said 

The special Envoy of Entertainment and Investment Amb. Kao Denero also expressed his warm appreciation to the team that they are giving Sierra Leone the opportunity for the first time to see the true benefits that Sierra Leone will derive from hosting the Awards in the country come 2022. 

“To me as an Ambassador and also an entertainer it would be a great pride to see fellow entertainers from other parts of Africa landing in Sierra Leone. I trust that will give not only hope but empowerment to members of our entertainment industry and will give us zeal to scaling up our creativity industry on value, standard and quality.” 

Amd. Kao Denero marked that Human capital development is at the heart of the government and since that has been demonstrated in his appointment, the entertainment sector will soon see rapid development in terms firm policy, infrastructure, professionalism and unification.
