WHAT IF SIERRA LEONE'S MUSICIANS START PRACTICING THE UBUNTU PHILOSOPHY??

The word "Ubuntu" is a South African term meaning 'humanity to others'. It originated around mid-19th century, used by zulu community. It also means 'I am what I am because of who we all are or a person is a person through other people. In actual sense, "Ubuntu" speaks about how we should care for each other as humans. The Ubuntu philosophy also speaks against selfishness and self-centered behavior among humans.

This piece aims at explaining the relationship between Musicians and Promoters or Bloggers in Sierra Leone and it also gives a clear view of how Promoters or Bloggers are been treated or classified in the Entertainment Industry. It seems obvious that Promoters or Bloggers are key players towards the success of every Musicians and their events. Over the years, Promoters or Bloggers have proven to be a solid bedrock towards the success of Musicians and their events.

It is no gain saying something, but selfishness and greed has been a culture in the Entertainment Industry. Musicians only care about themselves after making some cash in which Promoters or Bloggers have played vital roles to help them get the bag💰. Musicians should fix their thinking caps on and think positively, because selfishness and greed should not be a normal thing in the Entertainment Industry. Moreover, when Promoters or Bloggers sacrifice their time, energy, and some even go to the extend and sacrifice their own resources to get things done for them (Musicians), but the only thing they receive back in return is nothing, absolutely nothing. 

But alas, the relationship between Musicians and that of Promoters or Bloggers has not been rosy over the years. Taking into consideration the facts that Promoters or Bloggers contribute immensely towards the success of plenty Musicians they promote, but at the end, they gain little or nothing out of the sacrifices they offer.

It will interest readers to know that Musicians do get fat projects, and they usually hire the services of Promoters or Bloggers to push their work out to the public domain and at the end of the day, when Musicians reap some good cash from those projects, they sideline Promoters from dinning with them on the success table.

To our Musicians, imagine how difficult it is for Promoters to share your work to a population in which 60 to 70% will rather choose foreign songs over the songs you guys produce here. To our Musicians, please note that Blogging is a job for plenty youth involved in it, please do consider Bloggers as people who feed themselves from their job (Blogging).

Here comes the "Ubuntu philosophy". The Ubuntu philosophy asked a very important question, which says "how can one of us be happy and others are sad?" If our Musicians start answering this question, Salone's Entertainment Industry will start having an headway.

In other countries, show Promoters or Bloggers are considered as important people in the Entertainment Industry and they live worthy lifes. Promoters or Bloggers drive decent cars and all and sundry. But unlike Sierra Leone where the Ubuntu philosophy is not existing at all in the Entertainment Industry.

By and large, Musicians need Promoters or Bloggers in one way or the other. Because Promoters or Bloggers sell them (Musicians) and their work out to the public, in a bid to gain the attention of the public and that will help the Musicians greatly. So if Musicians do usually become happy, as a result of the work Promoters or Bloggers do, make sure you guys (Musicians) put smile on the faces of Promoters or Bloggers also.

My advise to all Promoters or Bloggers is that, you guys should take blogging as a lifetime job, you guys should always see blogging as a means of eking good life. Because by so doing, it will help send a signal to musicians that they should take you guys serious.
